IU Cursor

This is an animated IU logo cursor to replace the standard Windows hourglass icon
which is displayed by your
computer when it asks you to wait. It will work on PCs running Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows XP.
You may download it here and use it on your computer at home or at work as a subtle reminder of your IU ties. It might make waiting a little more fun.
These cursors have been tested with Windows 95, 2000, ME, and XP
- First, begin the file download by clicking on this link and opening up the file: iuglo.zip.
- Choose "Save link as" (MS Internet Explorer users, choose: "Save target as") and save the
file on your desktop. Unzip the file, and place the iuglo.ani file on your desktop. Open the folder: C:\Windows\Cursors or C:\WINNT\Cursors and copy and paste iuglo.ani into it.

- Once you have the file saved, go to your Windows Start menu and choose Settings.
- From the Settings menu, pick Control Panel.
- Once in the Control Panel window, double-click on the Mouse icon.
- In the Mouse Properties window, click on the Pointers tab.
- In the window displaying types of cursors, click on the row marked Busy,
represented in the standard Windows configuration by an hourglass icon. You'll be replacing the
hourglass with the IU logo.
(It's best not to replace an arrow pointer because the IU logo won't point very well. However, if you have a very fast computer and ethernet connection, and want the logo to show up more often and for a longer time, you might also want to replace the "Working in background" icon, the hourglass with arrow.) - With the Busy row selected, click on the button marked Browse.

- When the listing of cursor files pops up, click on the file you just downloaded, iuglo.ani.
(If the file does not appear in the listing, you may have saved it to the wrong directory. If you don't see the file name, try the download again or look for the file in another directory on your computer.) - With the iuglo.ani file selected, click on Open, which will take you back to the Mouse Properties window.
- Replace the "Working in Background" icon in the same way, if you like.
- In Mouse Properties, click OK.
- Exit Control Panel, if you want to. You're done. The IU logo should now keep you company as you wait for your computer to open programs or get to the next Web page.
If you have any trouble with the installation, e-mail your IUAA Webmaster at iuaaweb@indiana.edu.
More Cursors
Charlie Greer, an IU fan, made two more animated Windows cursors, which you can install using the same steps described above.

This one is a somewhat larger interlock IU logo animated with undulating white
stripes, which does not spin.

This one depicts a Purdue "P" being obliterated by IU.
