Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to be active and involved as a member of the IUAA.
- Attend chapter events, as well as other events in your area.
- Recruit a new dues-paying member of the IUAA.
- Submit a class note to the Indiana Alumni Magazine.
- Sign up to be an alumni student recruiter.
- Become a member of Hoosiers for Higher Education, a statewide organization dedicated to promoting higher education in Indiana.
- Bring a prospective student to one of our IU campuses.
- Send money! Contribute regularly to the IU Foundation.
- Attend a cultural event, sporting event, or lecture on an IU campus.
- Enroll in a continuing education class on a campus near you.
- Purchase an IU license plate.
- Put an IUAA or IU decal on your car.
- Share career advice at IUAlumniCareers.com.
- Buy and wear IUAA or IU merchandise.
- Encourage five friends to become life members of the IUAA.
- Upgrade your membership to life or continue to renew your annual membership.
- Subscribe to the electronic e-Newsletter, IUAA News, by giving us your e-mail address.
- Contact a member of the IUAA Board of Managers with ideas or comments.
- Plan your next vacation with Hoosier Travelers.
- Visit the campuses and meet with staff at each.
- Don’t be a stranger: if you’ve moved or changed jobs, let the IUAA Records Department know at (800) 824-3044, or update your record online via the alumni directory.
- Post jobs for fellow alumni at IUAlumniCareers.com.
Here are some ongoing things you can do to create a ripple effect of IUAA involvement:
- Ensure all your friends and neighbors know you attended IU.
- Drink your morning coffee from an IU mug.
- Read the schedule and minutes from the semi-yearly Executive Council meetings.
- If your alumni chapter is inactive, volunteer to help it become active.
- Work to get 100 percent of your affiliate, constituent, or chapter board to be IUAA members.
- Continue to reach out to alumni in ethnic or cultural minority groups.
- Read, review, and send feedback to the Indiana Alumni Magazine.
