The Washington, D.C. Chapter of the IU Alumni Association

Welcome!

The Washington, D.C. Chapter of the IUAA is the local Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland chapter for IU alumni. The chapter has elected officers and board members. Through these officers, board members, and other volunteers, the chapter organizes activities for local alumni, including (but not limited to):

The chapter also sponsors a scholarship for a deserving local IU student.

Fourth Annual Washington Nationals Group Outing

Baseball season has started and the Washington, D.C. Chapter has set a date for the fourth annual Washington Nationals Group Outing. This year’s game will be Sunday, Aug. 3, at 1:35 p.m. when the Washington Nationals will host the Cincinnati Reds at the brand new, gorgeous Nationals Park.

The chapter has reserved tickets in Sections 301 and 302 for this game. Tickets will cost $17 which includes a $3 donation to the chapter’s scholarship fund.

Virginia is for lovers

We have the design. We have the pride. Now help us get the ride!

To make the IU plate a reality in Virginia, we need 350 prepaid applications from people with active Virginia vehicle registrations. Orders for the IU Virginia plate will be processed through the IU Alumni Association corporate office in Bloomington, Ind. A completed Virginia DMV VSA-10 form must accompany each order. Motorcycles and souvenir plates can’t be a part of the 350 applications. The application deadline is December 31, 2008. Apply today!

Announcements

Congratulations go out to our undefeated CAN basketball team!

The team defeated the University of Virginia at the championship game. The game was played at the Verizon Center following a Washington Wizards game on April 9, 2008. Way to go, Hoosiers!

Do you have an event idea that you think other local alumni would enjoy? If so, please send all ideas, including community service opportunities, to Chapter President Nikki Cleaveland White.

Remember to post advertisements and other personal announcements on the Chapter's Classifieds Web page. For no cost, Hoosier alumni can promote their businesses to others in the D.C. area, post job openings at their companies, provide information on themselves (including résumés) when searching for employment, or post anything else, as long as the chapter approves the requested advertisement.
