The Washington, D.C. Chapter of the IUAA is the local Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland chapter for IU alumni. The chapter has elected officers and board members. Through these officers, board members, and other volunteers, the chapter organizes activities for local alumni, including (but not limited to):
- IU basketball and football game-watch parties
- Social events
- Intramural sports
- Community service projects
- Local recruiting
The chapter also sponsors a scholarship for a deserving local IU student.
Basketball players needed
The D.C. Hoosier team is looking for basketball players. The games will be played in Alexandria, Va., starting in January. For more information and to join the team, e-mail the coach, Spencer Brooks.
Volleyball players needed
The D.C. Hoosier team is looking for new volleyball players. The games will be played in Chantilly, Va., starting in January. For more information and to join the team, e-mail the coach, Jennifer Rodney.
Jimmy V Classic, Madison Square Garden, Tuesday, Dec. 8
Indiana University will be in the 2009 Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. They will play Game No. 2 of the doubleheader, with Butler vs. Georgetown in the first game.
Tickets won’t be on sale until the end of August and we don’t know the ticket prices, but we want to get a general idea of how many tickets we will need to order from Group Sales. If you think you will be attending the event, please e-mail Fred Brodzinski and give him an unofficial ticket count.
We will also be having some kind of Big Red Warm-Up on the night of the game.
