Chapter members are always welcome to participate on committees. Listed with each committee are the names and e-mail addresses of the people you can contact if you're interested in joining that committee. We’d love to have you!

Athletics

This committee works with IU Athletics to promote Indiana sports among alumni. We co-sponsor a football kickoff event with coach Lynch and two basketball tip-off events — one for the Hoosiers with coach Sampson and another for the Jaguars with coaches Hunter and Simpson. The committee also helps with events such as pre-game pep rallies before special games.

Community Service

This committee organizes projects that allow our alumni to come together to work for the benefit of the health, welfare, and beautification of our communities. Projects we have sponsored include a book drive for elementary libraries in IPS; assistance with a Habitat for Humanity house; birthday parties for children at the Julian Center; and a toy drive for underprivileged kids at Christmas.

Hoosiers for Higher Education

A statewide organization of more than 10,000 alumni, students, parents, and friends of Indiana University, HHE is IU’s voice in the statehouse. This committee works with HHE to promote higher education in Indiana.

Scholarship

Our chapter is fortunate to have a scholarship endowment from which we award five $1,000 scholarships each year to students from our four-county area who are attending any IU campus. This committee works with the IU Office of Admissions in recruiting students, distributes and evaluates scholarship applications, and selects our scholarship recipients.

Young Alumni

Alumni under 35 represent a growing portion of our membership base. This committee plans events of particular interest to the young alumni age group, in some instances working with other committees where there is overlap (such as a community service project). Game-day TV parties to cheer on the Hoosiers and an annual IU night at the Indians are among the events organized by the YA Committee.
