Full Calendar >>A Hoosier welcome from your Florida Sun Coast Chapter of the IUAA – serving Charlotte, Highlands, DeSoto, Hardee, Sarasota, and Manatee Counties
Greetings from our award-winning chapter, serving six sunny Florida counties. We have some 1,400 Hoosier alumni living year round in our Gulf Coast area, stretching from Palmetto and Bradenton on the north, through Englewood and Nokomis to Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, and from Sebring and Lake Placid on the east, through Arcadia and Wachula to Venice, Sarasota, and Longboat Key on the west.
On this Web site you will find a calendar of events and activities. These calendar items are open not only to present and former IU students, parents, and families, but also to friends and fans of our great university. All are welcome to be a part of our Hoosier family.
In addition, we keep a listing of locations and gathering places throughout our area where you can find broadcasts of Hoosier sporting events, including basketball.
Please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call me at (941) 698-4019 if you are interested in attending any of the functions you see. Even if you might not be able to attend any of our activities, don’t forget to say "hello" when you come to our area.
GO BIG RED!
Sun Coast Scholarship Fund
Taking a cue from the university’s much larger Claude Rich Scholarship Fund, the Sun Coast Chapter of the IUAA created its own Sun Coast Scholarship Fund with a goal to raise $10,000 in five years. Started in 2004, the fund is now halfway to its goal, and alumni in the six counties served by the Sun Coast chapter are encouraged to direct a part of their annual alumni giving to help students in our area attend IU and its regional campuses.
When making a tax-deductible gift to IU, we encourage you to direct part or all to your local chapters fund, so that Florida students in our six-county area may have an opportunity to meet some of the out-of-state tuition costs of attending IU.
Please mark the memo portion of your check with "Sun Coast Fund #037IUAS013" to assure proper credit to your home chapter's effort. On behalf of the Sun Coast Chapter, I thank you!
