Degree:
BA'78 in History, with honors. Also attended the IU School of Law in Indianapolis and was a graduate student/associate instructor at the IU School of Journalism.

Current Position/Place of Employment:
K-12 education writer, The Herald-Times, Bloomington

Family:
Wife (Susie, also IU BA'78), son Alex, 13, and son Evan, 10. One dog (Lucy), three cats (Bob, Calvin, and Hobbes).

Hometown:
Bloomington for the last 27 years

Favorite hangout as an IU student:
Bear's Place, IMU Commons. Current favorite hangouts: Irish Lion, Nick’s English Hut.

Most enjoyable aspects of living in a college town:
Diversity, with my kids going to schools that have 40 or 50 languages spoken in the building, and the fact we get big town amenities – arts, sports, additional intellectual and cultural context – amid small town ambience.

Fondest memory of IU as a student:
Convening with my friends at the dorm to watch IU cap the last perfect men's basketball season in NCAA history by winning the 1976 championship game against Michigan, then celebrating at Showalter Fountain and long into the night at several other campus locales.
