Congratulations to Mike Mann

Mann was honored with the President’s Award in June 2009. The recipients of the President’s Award are recognized as outstanding volunteers of the Indiana University Alumni Association. The recipients have made significant contributions benefiting the IUAA and the alumni chapters program. Mann truly deserves this award and accolades for all the things he does for the Alumni Association and the Monroe County Community.

Chapter Recognized with Circle of Excellence on June 19, 2009

The Monroe County Chapter received awards at the IU Alumni Association Chapter Leadership Conference held in Bloomington, Ind., from June 12 to 14. The chapter was recognized with the Circle of Excellence award. The Circle of Excellence award is given to chapters that are judged by the IUAA’s chapter awards committee to be outstanding in their service to IU and its alumni. Key areas the chapters must focus on include chapter organization, communications, community service, programming, membership, and service to IU.

Congratulations to Pat and Ken Shidler

At the annual Statehouse visit held on Feb. 17, Pat and Ken Shidler received the 2009 Sue Talbot Distinguished Hoosiers for Higher Education Member Award. Named for HHE’s founding director, the Sue H. Talbot Distinguished HHE Member Award honors a member whose volunteer work and dedication to HHE exemplifies Sue’s generous spirit and loving support of Indiana University.

Chapter Awards The Monroe County Chapter received awards at the IUAA Chapter Leadership Conference held in Bloomington, Ind. on June 12 to 14, 2008. The chapter was recognized with the following awards:

The Circle of Excellence award is given to chapters that are judged by the IUAA’s chapter awards committee to be outstanding in their service to IU and its alumni. Key areas the chapters must focus on include chapter organization, communications, community service, programming, membership, and service to IU.

The Indiana Cares awards are given to chapters that have sponsored a unique or outstanding community-service project or program. This past year, our chapter held our annual tailgate party/food drive for Hoosier Hills Food Bank, organized the Triple Crown running series, adopted a family during the holidays, and adopted a stretch of College Avenue on the north side of Bloomington to clean and maintain at least four times a year.

Congratulations to everyone (board members, volunteers, members, etc.) who helped the chapter with its programs and events during the past year.
