Sponsor Spotlight: April 2006

Michelle Smith

Occupation:
Director of Sales & Marketing, Fourwinds Resort & Marina, 824.BOAT

How long have you been in business in Bloomington?
Fourwinds Resort & Marina was built in 1972 to give boaters on Lake Monroe a place to rest and recreate. The lake was finished in 1970 by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Describe your business and the services or products you offer.
Families, couples, businesses and individuals enjoy Fourwinds year-round for hotel stays, boating, eating and playing.

What do you like most about living and having a business in Bloomington/Monroe County?
Bloomington is as eclectic as our guests. We have people who want peace and quiet like a fall afternoon in Bryan Park and others who want a fun party atmosphere like Little 500. Fourwinds has many offerings on the 70 acres of Fairfax State Recreation Area. Having IU Alumni as guests at the resort is always a good time. We can relive "the good ole days" right along with them.

Are you an IU grad? If so, when did you graduate? Degree?
Fourwinds has the pleasure of having over 20 IU grads on staff. We also have many IU students who work with us to gain experience they will be able to use in their future careers.

Fondest IU memory?
We love graduation and freshman move-in. It's great to see them come in with such enthusiasm and it's definitely rewarding to see them graduate.

Why did you choose to be a Corporate Sponsor of the Monroe County Chapter of the IUAA?
After hosting the first Hoosier Happy Hour, we were hooked. We reach out to locals and Bloomington visitors alike who want a bit of fun so the IUAA-Monroe County group seemed a great way to reach both. We are happy to support the town-gown efforts of the IUAA.
