Sponsor Spotlight: August 2006

Erin Waltz, Bloomington Branch Manager & Cathi Canfield, Regional Director, Employment Plus

How long have you been in business in Bloomington?
Employment Plus opened in 1993. We now have 13 locations from Indianapolis to Lexington, Kentucky and 12 Partner on Premise (large volume) clients.

Describe your business and the services or products you offer.
We pride ourselves on providing HR solutions and creating long lasting relationships with our associates and our clients. While we stared out as a temporary staffing company, we’ve grown to offer professional and technical placements, coaching and training services, self service (includes testing and screening), as well as HR consulting services.

What do you like most about living and having a business in Bloomington/Monroe County?
It’s our home! We’ve won seven Indiana Kelley School of Business growth awards due to the hard work of our team and the connections made with other Indiana based companies. Bloomington has an entrepreneurial spirit that we appreciate and promote.

Many of the folks who work in our corporate office and Bloomington branch grew up in this area. We’ve been able to grow our business and provide jobs for thousands of Hoosiers. We’re proud to have a Bloomington address.

Are you an IU grad? If so, when did you graduate? Degree?
Employment Plus has several IU grads as valuable employees. They’re dispersed throughout the state in Seymour, Princeton, New Albany, and Bloomington.

Fondest IU memory?
Annette Dalton - Working at the Athletic Ticket Office during Steve Alford's years & 1987 Championship.

Mark Cady '06 - My fondest memory must be the day that I finally graduated from IU. To be in an elite category of alumni, and to walk up into Assembly Hall with my cap and gown was a culmination of all the hard work that I have gone through to complete my education. My education took eighteen years to complete, and to finally showcase my education with the paper that writes “Diploma” in calligraphy on the top means that I am now a member of those who call themselves Indiana University alumni.

Why did you choose to be a Corporate Sponsor of the Monroe County Chapter of the IUAA?
Employment Plus is a partner in the community and wants to support strong organizations when possible. The local chapter of the IUAA has proven itself to be a great source of networking as well as an example of the fine folks IU continues to educate. The IUAA keeps their members connected to IU and engaged in their communities. We’re happy to assist in sustaining this type of group.
