Bloomington Hospital
How long have you been in business in Bloomington?
Bloomington Hospital began serving the Bloomington community in 1905 in a 10-room farmhouse. It has since grown into a sophisticated hospital system
with a 355-licensed-bed facility in Bloomington, which has nearly 15,000 inpatient admissions and 55,000 emergency department visits each year.
Describe your business and the services or products you offer.
As a regional health care provider, Bloomington Hospital serves a 10-county area and provides a variety of health care services ranging from cancer care to heart care to neurosciences and orthopedics. We operate two hospital facilities (one in Bloomington and one in Paoli), a network of five family practice physician offices, and nearly 30 outpatient service locations.
What do you like most about living and having a business in Bloomington/Monroe County?
Having been a member of the Bloomington and Monroe County community for more than 100 years, we take pride in our community and are pleased to provide health care for our neighbors. We take an active role in our community and value the opportunities we have to participate in community events. We are fortunate to live in an active and dynamic community that supports health care and health care providers.
Why did you choose to be a Corporate Sponsor of the Monroe County Chapter of the IUAA?
With IU being a leader in health care and the life sciences, it's natural for Bloomington Hospital to continually partner and work with the university in a variety of ways. From working with the IU School of Nursing and School of Medicine to educate future nurses and physicians, to partnering to host events like Hoosiers Outrun Cancer, Bloomington Hospital and IU have many ties. Our sponsorship of the Monroe County Chapter of the IUAA is one more way we can support the IU community and its many alumni who have chosen to remain in the Bloomington and Monroe County community.
