Sponsor Spotlight: April 2008

Deborah Sibbitt, Hoosiers for Higher Education

How long have you been in business in Bloomington?
HHE began in 1991.

Describe your business and the services or products you offer.
HHE is IU's grassroots advocacy organization sponsored by the IUAA and working in conjunction with the Office of Public Affairs and Government Relations. We are one of the oldest and largest higher education advocacy organizations in the country. The primary goal of HHE is to engage its members to connect with public officials about the importance of supporting funding and policies that will ensure that IU continues to be a premiere international teaching and research institution.

What do you like most about living and having a business in Bloomington/Monroe County?
Due to the nature of this office, it is important to have a presence at the IU Bloomington campus, along with the IUAA and the IU administration. Residing in this area is a true blessing. As my hometown, I have had the sincere pleasure of experiencing all the incredible array of art, athletics, educational programs, beautiful surrounding and down home ambience of our Hoosier family members.

Are you an IU grad? If so, when did you graduate? Degree?
I received a BS from the Kelley School of Business in 1977 in marketing, management, and small business entrepreneurship.

Fondest IU memory?
In the classroom, it would have been virtually all of my business classes as well as some great political science classes. And it was topped off by the 1976 NCAA championship in basketball – the last undefeated team!

Why did you choose to be a corporate sponsor of the Monroe County Chapter of the IUAA?
HHE supports all of the great things the chapter is doing because the membership is supportive of HHE – it is certainly a win-win!
