Indiana Day
Our annual day for all local alumni to gather. We frequently have a representative from IU to provide an update on university events. When schedules permit we also have entertainment in the form of alumni sponsored student singing groups such as Straight No Chaser or the Singing Hoosiers. This event is typically held in early February in order to benefit from the annual IU golf outing in Naples in honor of past Alumni Association President Claude Rich.
Student Send-off
Our annual luncheon is usually held in early August to show our alumni support of local students about to return to IU or freshmen who are about to leave home for the first time. This event is informative for alumni, students, and parents since all have different perspectives about the college life. Many alumni wish they could go back to IU and relive their glory days at ’ole IU. Parents are wondering what their children are doing so far from home and many exchange notes and telephone numbers with other parents. Students are usually eager to get back to school, but they provide interesting stories which illustrate how much college life has changed over the years, especially as a result of technology and the internet.
Athletic Game Parties
Thanks to our NCAA championships in men's basketball, we always have gatherings of alumni and fellow Hoosiers at local watering holes to join together in cheering for our team. Thanks also to our strong alumni support we are seeing a record number of football games televised by the national media, so we can look forward to gathering for these games too. We have designated two locations in our large geographic area in order to be convenient to both the northern and southern areas of our local alumni club which stretches from Boca Raton to Port St. Lucie. IU Cares
South Florida alumni support two charities. We are proud to support IU Cares and give back to our communities!
- Animal Rescues of Palm Beach and Broward Counties: We’re collecting donations including towels, dog and cat food, newspapers, and toys.
- Lord’s Place: We’re collecting canned goods.

Other events may be announced on short notice via e-mail as IU academic and administration representatives may arrive in our area on short notice. This is why it is important to register with our local club so that we can send email announcements quickly to all local alumni who may be interested in participating.
