IU E-mail and Account Options for Graduating Students

Graduating students now have more options for continued access to IU e-mail. In addition to qualifying for an IU Alumni Association (Windows Live Hotmail) e-mail account, graduating students may choose to create an Imail account (powered by Microsoft) and/or Umail account (powered by Google).

IUAA E-mail Accounts

Permanent IU alumni e-mail accounts (username@alumni.iu.edu) and Instant Messenger dynamic display pictures are now available for all May graduates. Show your spirit with display pictures customized for IU and IUPUI. To create your new IU alumni e-mail account, see:

Imail and Umail Accounts

Imail and Umail accounts (username@indiana.edu or username@iupui.edu, for example), hosted by Microsoft and Google, respectively, offer additional services besides e-mail. Both services provide access to a calendaring feature, instant messaging, and document and spreadsheet applications along with a wealth of storage. As alumni, you are entitled to have an account on one of these systems. Sign up today at:

Keeping your IU E-mail Address

After creating additional e-mail accounts, it is important to update your preferred e-mail address. This step is included in the account creation process for Imail and Umail but requires an extra step by you when creating the IU alumni e-mail account. Information on forwarding e-mail from your IU e-mail address to your new alumni e-mail account can be found at:

Workshops

Learn more about new Imail and Umail services by taking a UITS demonstration workshop. Learn about features of both e-mail services, including filters and labels in Umail, and rules and folders in Imail, as well as calendar and scheduling in both.

Space for these workshops is limited. Contact UITS IT Training & Education to reserve your seat:

If you submit your reservation request by e-mail, please include "E-mail Demonstration" in the subject line. You can download the workshop materials for self-study or view a recording of the demonstration session at:
