Group 43 Scholarship Fund
The Groups Alumni Association has established a scholarship fund to generate scholarship assistance for undergraduate African American and Latino students. The fund derives its name from the 43 African American and Latino students who started Indiana University’s Groups Student Support Services Program in the fall of 1968. This scholarship fund’s mission is to carry on the can-do spirit of Group 43 and all other students who have come through the Groups Program.
Our goal is to raise $43,000 dollars between now and the Groups Program’s 40th Reunion scheduled for Oct. 24 to 26, 2008. The method for reaching this goal is simple: We are asking alumni, parents, and friends of the Groups Program to each make a pledge to contribute $43 dollars to this fund before the reunion. All we need is 1,000 pledges from the 9,000 plus students who have matriculated through the Groups Program to reach our goal.
An announcement of the funds raised will be announced by Groups Director Wiggins and GAA President Smith during the 40th Reunion Banquet on the night of Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008.
Instructions on how to contribute will be published on this Web page when available.
