Why I chose IU

Why wouldn’t I choose IU? is what comes to mind. Indiana University will always have a place in my heart. I chose to come here because of the world renowned educational and cultural opportunities and the wonderful town of Bloomington, Indiana. One does not always find such a perfect combination between school and town. Lastly, the staff and faculty at IU are both scholars and empathic students of life themselves who work hard so that I, and many others, are able to gain the educational, civic, and social education and this is needed in today’s world. And now, three years later, I could not have imagined going any place else.

Favorite memories of IU

I have so many memories that I don’t know where to start. Whether it was listening to the drum circle at Collins, going to breakfast at the Village Deli, or attending one of the many events on campus, I am never short of vivid memories from my time at IU. A large burrito at Laughing Planet or finding the book I was looking for over at Howard’s Bookstore are traditions I still take part in when I get a chance to get back to Bloomington. The memories I have will forever make me smile.

Advice for GLBT students

The advice I would offer to GLBT students is to never pass up an opportunity. IU will provide you with more of them than you thought possible, so take advantage of as many as possible. Also, live your life with authenticity. Be who you are and make the very most you can of your four years at IU.

Why the GLBTAA is important to me

GLBTAA is important in that it gives the GLBT alumni of IU a voice and a face. So often, the GLBT community is an invisible group. The GLBTAA works to provide us a platform to be seen and recognized for all the wonderful things we continue to accomplish in our lives. It is also an important mechanism for us to connect to one another and share in one another’s lives.
