IUAA Annual Chapter Awards
Each year the Indiana University Alumni Association recognizes outstanding alumni chapters around the world for their service to the university and their local communities. Chapters are judged on a variety of areas including alumni events and activities, student recruitment, scholarship, communication, community service, membership promotion, and volunteer leadership. Chapters are divided into six divisions to equalize competition, and each division is named for a former IU president. Awards presented each year include Chapter of the Year, Circle of Excellence, Indiana Cares Award (for unique or outstanding community service), Most Improved Chapter, and Outstanding Student Recruitment.

Local Alumni Chapter Awards and Recognition
Some alumni chapters choose to present awards each year to outstanding alumni volunteers, retiring chapter officers, or other IU graduates who contribute in positive ways to their local communities. Most chapters refer to these awards as Outstanding Alumni Awards, and generally the honors are presented during a signature event or the chapter’s Indiana Day activity. Please note that the IU Alumni Association can assist chapters in creating award plaques or framed certificates to honor local alumni.

IUAA President's Award
Recipients of the annual IUAA President’s Award, the highest honor bestowed on an individual by the Alumni Association, are recognized for their outstanding volunteer efforts on behalf of the IUAA. The recipients are generally recognized for their significant contributions benefiting the Alumni Association over an extended period of time.
President’s Awards are presented twice each year — once during Cream & Crimson Weekend (June of each year), and once during the December meeting of the IUAA Executive Council. Traditionally, chapter volunteers are awarded the President’s Award during Cream & Crimson Weekend. IUAA constituent society and affiliate group volunteers are recognized with the honor during the December ceremony.
Nominations for this award may be made by alumni chapters, constituent societies, affiliate groups, or IU and IUAA staff. If you are interested in nominating an outstanding alumni chapter volunteer, please contact your chapter's staff liaison.
