Continuing Studies Alumni Association
Message from the IU Continuing Studies Alumni President:
Welcome to the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies Alumni Association. We are a group of alumni representing each campus within the state. We meet two times a year at a different campus to share ideas and learn new and exciting ways to grow our membership. We also learn about the uniqueness of each campus.
As part of the larger Alumni Association, we are provided a budget that is funded by our graduates who are dues-paying members to the IU Alumni Association. We use this money to provide money to each campus's Continuing Studies alumni programs. This money goes to educate Continuing Studies alumni on what is available. This may be in the form of a newsletter, health fair, or homecoming celebration. In some cases, financial help for graduation ceremonies is funded by our group.
We give yearly scholarship help to students in the Continuing Studies program from any campus. We also recognize alumni for their accomplishments after graduation by awarding the Distinguished Alumni Award.
We are a growing Alumni Association and we always welcome new members.

Message from the Dean:
It is my pleasure
to serve as the Statewide Dean of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS). Among my duties are the many
opportunities to represent our academic programs at all IU Commencements, as well as professional functions
in adult education around the nation.
Over 25,000 SCS graduates hold one or more IU degrees, ranging from the Associate of Arts and Bachelor of General Studies to Master of Adult Education. Over 90% of our graduates live in Indiana and contribute to community service and professional careers that include directors of educational services, private ownership of businesses, state directorships for public services, personal and corporate attorneys, library and health information officers, real estate and tax specialists, and more. Over a third of our General Studies graduates have gone on to successful completion of a graduate degree.
Operating on all IU campuses, as well as providing the only comprehensive IU undergraduate distance degree program, SCS is the provider of alternative course offerings for the adult learner in Indiana. The Independent Study Program has received over twenty instructional development awards. Our courses and degree programs, including distance high school education, are accessed by nearly 10,000 learners annually. Another 10,000 are involved annually in professional development training coordinated with Indiana businesses and government agencies.
As we increase our efforts to provide quality learning options, credit and noncredit, in a growing variety of interactive online formats, I hope all IU Alumni will consider ways they can join us in honoring and enriching adult professional development and lifelong learning from Indiana reaching around the world.
