2006 Winners

Mike Perry, Tom Bolyard, Richard Glenn
Thomas E. Bolyard
Our first recipient on this special occasion is Tom Bolyard. Tom was an outstanding high school basketball player, graduating from South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was recruited by and played for Branch McCracken. He was a three-year starter, averaging 18 points per game (Tom will probably tell you this was before the three-point shot!). While at IU he also participated on Little 500 teams for his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. When Tom graduated in 1963, he was ranked in the top 10 of all-time leading scorers at IU, earning All Big Ten honors. After graduation, he signed with the Baltimore Bullets, then decided to return to graduate school. He was an assistant coach at North Side High School in Fort Wayne for one year and an assistant coach under Lou Watson for six years at IU. He held this position until 1971, when he moved to the Alumni Association. Among his many duties at the Alumni Association, Tom was executive director for the I-Men Association beginning in 1983. Tom was inducted into the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame at New Castle in 1992 and the IU Hall of Fame in 1998. Tom loyally served his university for 40 years and retired in January of this year. Tom is a member of the I-Men's Association and a life member of the IU Alumni Association.
Tom resides in Bloomington and has two children, Ann Happel and Tom Bolyard.
Richard T. Glenn
Our second recipient this evening is Richard T. Glenn. Richard came to Indiana University from Huntington High School in Huntington, Ind. He served as manager of the IU football team from 1952–54 for coach Bernie Crimmins. While at IU, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the IU Student Foundation. After his graduation in 1955 from the business school, he started his career with Merrill Lynch in Detroit as an account executive. He finished his career in Bannockburn, Ill., as an investment adviser with Mathers and Company where he served as chairman, president, and director of Mathers Fund, a no-load stock mutual fund.
Richard has served the university on the National Board of Directors of the Varsity Club and as president of the Chicago Chapter of the IUAA. He is a member of the Hoosier Hundred, the Well House Society, and the President’s Circle at the IU Foundation. Richard is also a member of the I-Men’s Association and a life member of the IU Alumni Association. In 2004, Richard was a 50-year honoree of the I-Men’s Association. He has served his community as an elder of the Winnetka Presbyterian Church and is currently president of the Trustees of the Winnetka Police Pension Board.
Richard and his wife Sandy reside in Winnetka, Ill., and they have one son, Ronald.
J. Michael Perry
Our third and final recipient this evening is J. Michael Perry. Mike graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. He went on to attend Indiana University and was a member of John Pont’s first recruiting class. Mike was backup quarterback from 1966-68 and a member of the Rose Bowl team. While at IU he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the IU Student Foundation. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Alumni award in 1971. Mike has stayed active in alumni activities by serving on the IUAA Executive Council and as president of the IU Men’s Club of Indianapolis. He is a member of the Indianapolis Alumni Club and the I-Men’s Association. He is also a member of the Varsity Club and is a life member of both the IU Alumni Association and the I-Men’s Association.
Since graduating from the School of Business, Mike has been in the investment world, and joined City Securities in 1969. He is currently a senior vice president.
Mike and his wife Kathy reside in Carmel, Ind., and have one son, Nick.
