2008 Winners

John Wallace, Milford Christenson, Eric Stolberg
John A. Wallace
John A. Wallace, BS’03, played basketball and baseball for the Hoosiers in the mid-1940s. During his basketball
career he earned All-American honors in 1946 and left IU with the single-season scoring record.
While at IU, Wallace served as president of the junior class and president of Union Board.
His military service included 31 combat missions with the U.S. Air Force, and he received two Distinguished Flying Crosses. Wallace, of Indianapolis, worked for more than 40 years at real-estate company F.C. Tucker. He retired in 1992 as partner and executive vice president.
A member of both the IU Alumni Association and the I Association, Wallace has served as president of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors and as director of the Indiana Golf Association.
His first wife, Sarah Jane (Lukemeyer), died in 1983. He married Brenda (Lanning), AS’70, in 1996. He has five children — Jane Wallace LoDuca, BS’71, MS’76; Martha Wallace Simpson, BS’72; John M. Wallace, BA’74, MD’78; Marilou “Lu” Wallace Pennal; and Andrew Wallace — and 10 grandchildren.
Milford P. Christenson
Milford P. Christenson, BS’47, served as a student manager for the Hoosier football team in 1941 and 1942, under Coach
Alvin “Bo” McMillin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned a Bronze Star. Christenson, of
Griffith, Ind., has owned and operated an automobile dealership in nearby Highland, Ind., for more than 50 years.
An I-Man, he is a member of the Varsity Club board of directors, the IU Bloomington President’s Circle, and the IU Northwest Chancellor’s Council. He is a life member of both the IU Alumni Association and the I Association.
Other than his time at IU and in the U.S. Army, Christenson has lived on Griffith Boulevard — at three different addresses — his entire life. His extensive community service includes 15 years on the Griffith School Board.
Christenson and his wife, Margaret (Mosny), BME’47, were married in 1949. They have two children — Dean Christenson, BS’73, and Dana Christenson Long, BS’75, MS’77, JD’80 — six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Their son-in-law, Dennis Long, BS’77, works at the IU Jacobs School of Music.
Eric Stolberg
Eric Stolberg, BS’70, MS’75, played on the Hoosier football team in the late 1960s and was a member of the team
that traveled to the Rose Bowl in 1968. He played in the 1969 East-West Shrine Game, an all-star game, before being drafted
by the Oakland Raiders in 1970. Stolberg played for the New England Patriots in 1971.
He is president of Wininger/Stolberg Property Group, a real-estate development company in Bloomington, Ind., and has been involved with the company for more than 35 years.
An I-Man, Stolberg is a life member of the IU Alumni Association and a member of the I Association and the Varsity Club. He is past chairman of the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation, and is active in the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and the Commission for Bloomington Downtown.
Stolberg and his wife, Laura (Brown), BS’87, live in Bloomington, Ind. Their son, Aaron Long, and his wife, Amy, recently had their first daughter, Alessandra.
