A great satisfaction of serving as chancellor for Indiana University Northwest has been the opportunity to learn so much about the Northwest Indiana region. My wife, Pamela, and I have enjoyed the enthusiastic welcome we have received from all corners of this community, and each day brings us new friends, new facts, and a renewed appreciation for this region’s extraordinary potential.

I have also been struck by the strong relationship that so many Northwest Indiana alumni maintain with Indiana University, long after graduating. Alums of IU Northwest and other IU campuses regularly turn out for joint activities sponsored by our respective alumni associations, and my many conversations with local alumni have made it clear that IU’s strong and growing regional influence and community engagement are matters of pride and importance to them.
