I have been a check writer for years. Especially when it comes to orphans. Now, for the second year in a row, I have put my boots on the ground. That ground is western Kenya, where Indiana University is “parenting” a vast medical outreach community called AMPATH (Academic Model Providing Access To Healthcare). AMPATH is changing lives for thousands of Kenyans. Eldoret, the epicenter of AMPATH’s work, has jokingly been referred to as the Terre Haute of Kenya; pass through because there’s not much reason to stay.
