Class Notes

  • Ellen C. Samsell (MA’75, PhD’83) writes “I enjoyed returning to the Midwest on a fellowship that allowed me to retrace — via land — Huck Finn’s raft journey on the Mississippi River.” In March, she presented a workshop at Columbia Scholastic Press Association Convention at Columbia University. Samsell resides in Glendale, Calif.
  • Kathleen Morrow McNeely (BS’82, MPA’00) was named vice president of administration and CFO of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in March. She formerly served as associate vice president and executive director of IU’s Financial Management Services. McNeely, who began her new position on April 29, oversees the NCAA’s financial resources, risk management, insurance, investments, travel management, physical plant operations, the Hall of Champions, purchasing and procurement, publications and printing, and information technology. She lives in Bloomington, Ind.
  • Christopher B. Anderson (BA’94, MBA’03) writes, “I recently took leave after a military deployment and went to Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I went alone but on the climb down [following] a different route, I ran into a group of Americans. It turned out that four of the girls in the group went to IU, and we reminisced about [the university], Little 500, etc. It was surreal as we descended after our successful climbs of this great mountain in Tanzania and talked about great memories of IU and Bloomington.” Anderson is a major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He lives in Shreveport, La.
  • Immaculate C. Kyampeire (MA’10) writes “I am teaching biology in St. Aloysius secondary school in Bwanda Masaka, Uganda.” She adds, “I am also head of the science department in the school.” Kyampeire lives in Masaka, Uganda.
