Why I chose IU
IU really chose me. It was clear to me that IU Bloomington was
going to give me a top-notch education, a beautiful campus to
roam, and provide new experiences and opportunities.
Favorite memories of IU
My first favorite memory is attending freshman orientation at the Indiana Memorial Union.
I recall coming home and talking nonstop about everything I wanted to be a part of. I was
simply amazed by the energy of the orientation leaders and the opportunities that lie ahead.
The second was Commencement. I was lucky enough to be part of the platform party for my
December graduation, and I remember looking out at a sea of black robes and various
colored tassels. Never had I been more proud of IU or myself!
Advice to undergraduates
Be adventurous! Take advantage of the diversity IU and the
Bloomington campus offer — enjoy some Tibetan cuisine, see
original manuscripts at the Lilly Library, visit a museum designed
by I.M. Pei, watch Broadway hits at the IU Auditorium, and visit
the farmers' market. There is no other place that will allow you to
do all of those. Oh yes, and of course, study!
Why the IU Alumni Association is important to me
The IUAA continues to educate me. It keeps me connected and
informed about current events and discoveries in academia, as
well as how college students think and live today. As a volunteer
for the IUAA, I am able to meet new people, attend various
events, and give back to the university that means so much to me.
