Why I chose IU
I attended Saturday school while in high school and became interested in printmaking. At the time, IU’s Herron School of Art and Design was rated third in printmaking in the United States, so it was my first choice. I got to know many students who were teaching at the Saturday school, and I was impressed with their ability and commitment to art.

Favorite memories of IU
Sitting on the front lawn of Herron in the springtime and talking about art with fellow students.

Advice to undergraduates
Herron taught me an important concept that I use in everything I do, which is to believe in yourself. If you want to accomplish something, you can.

Why the IU Alumni Association is important to me
The Alumni Association is important to me because it has kept me in touch with fellow artists. The Herron Alumni Association has sponsored weekly drawing sessions for the past 30 years at the IUPUI campus. They have been an invaluable networking tool, and at other events, like the Alumni Show, I get to see current work from alumni from all over the United States. Also, the opportunity to participate in the studio tours where alumni and faculty open their studios — what a great way to see what and how others are creating!
