August 31, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Indiana University Alumni Association has named J.D. Denny the managing editor of the Indiana Alumni Magazine.

“J.D.’s background and his proven record here at the Alumni Association make him a perfect fit for the position,” said Mike Wright, the magazine’s editor in chief. “He has a passion for magazines, IU, and the IUAA, and I am quite confident he will do a terrific job as managing editor.”

Denny joined the IU Alumni Association in August 2002 as assistant editor and advertising manager for the Indiana Alumni Magazine. He arrived at the magazine after an 11-month tenure as founding editor of The Manchester Monitor, a weekly newspaper in North Manchester, Ind., near Fort Wayne.

He earned a master’s degree in journalism in 2001 and a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1990, both from IU Bloomington. For most of the 1990s, he worked as a technical writer, first for a computer-consulting firm and then as a freelancer. Denny grew up in Lake Zurich, Ill., a northwestern suburb of Chicago, and now lives in Bloomington.
