Receptions to Celebrate Hall of Fame Inductee Anthony Thompson

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Two receptions, one in Bloomington, Ind., and one in New York City, are scheduled to honor two-time All-American Hoosier running back Anthony Thompson, BGS’02, in celebration of his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
A Bloomington celebration will occur on Nov. 15 in the Great Room of the Bloomington Convention Center at 302 S. College Ave. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a program at 6:15 p.m. The event, free of charge, is hosted by IU President Michael A. McRobbie. The celebration resumes in New York on Dec. 3 at the New York Helmsley Hotel, 212 E. 42nd Street. The reception, hosted by the Metro New York City Chapter of the IU Alumni Association, will begin at 6:30 p.m., with a brief program at 7 p.m. It will end at 8 p.m. Also in attendance will be IUAA President and CEO Tom Martz, Director of IU Athletics Rick Greenspan, and former IU football coach Bill Mallory. Thompson will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Dec. 4. The fifth Hoosier to be so honored, Thompson is one of 12 players and two coaches in the 2007 class. He started for the Hoosiers from 1986–89, finishing his career with 5,299 rushing yards and a Division I record 65 career touchdowns.
