An important part of any reunion weekend is taking the time to reminisce and think about what you gained from your experience in the law school. When thinking about these opportunities, we hope that each class is thankful and takes this reunion weekend as an opportunity to give back to the school and help today’s students reap the rewards of being a graduate from the IU School of Law-Indianapolis.
Class gifts are an important need for the school and its desire to increase scholarship to students. State funding has decreased steadily over the years, and any gifts that can be given to the school will create opportunities for the school to recruit the best and the brightest students.
A gift allows the group to honor one’s class and can continue to grow for future reunions. In giving back, each class is open to various opportunities to do so. Each class is free to do as they wish, and there is no requirement for a class member to give in order to attend the weekend, although it is encouraged.
To successfully develop and grow a class gift the committee will work with a development officer from IU School of Law-Indianapolis. They will help to determine the various needs of the school, possible naming opportunities for the gift, and give direction and assistance in the preparation of materials and solicitation of classmates who may be interested in contributing to the gift. We encourage class members to participate in this effort but none are required to do so in order to be on the class reunion committee.
All class gifts will be announced during the alumni weekend in order to recognize the efforts of the class, unless the group chooses not to be recognized.
It is our hope that the reunion weekend will develop into a successful weekend not only in terms of reunion events but also in the growth of support for the school and its students.
