  6. SAVE – Hoosier Hills Food Bank

    Monday, Dec. 15, 5:15 p.m.

'Tis the season for giving and sharing! SAVE is helping out at the Hoosier Hills Food Bank. They need OUR help to sustain them throughout the holiday season when their volunteer supply shrinks, but the need increases! Help us help them during their re-pack sessions to package prepared foods rescued from local restaurants and cafeterias into freezer bags.

We know it is finals week, but it's a good cause and a fun way to de-stress. Meet at the DAC at 5:15 p.m. in the student offices (the back doors) for a fun night! The volunteering should take around an hour and a half. Transportation will be provided!

If you are interested in helping, please email Katie at .

  7. Hoosier Hills Food Bank Block Walk Challenge – Now through January

Join the SAA team for the challenge! We are collecting food for our local community from now through MLK Day (Jan. 19). More details about this to follow. Want to help plan/promote this program? E-mail .

  8. Fun Fact — Festivus Celebration

    Tuesday, Dec. 23

This month’s fun fact is actually a holiday. “A FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US!” as spoken by the great Frank Costanza from Seinfeld shows that Festivus is a holiday for all. There are multiple parts to a successful Festivus holiday season, and for those of you that do not know them I will explain. Festivus was created as a response to the commercialization of Christmas. Instead of a decorated tree, there is simply a metal pole, preferably made from aluminum (the strength-to-weight ratio is high). There is also the airing of grievances during which you tell others how they disappointed you in the last year. There is also the feats of strength which conclude the holiday. During this last event, the head of the hosting house must be pinned to the ground for the holiday to officially be completed. Now that you know the holiday, host your own celebration this year with all of your family and friends!
