The Plan

n his statement at Queensland University, President McRobbie pointed out the uniqueness of American universities in the world of higher education. They are unique because of the ongoing relationship they, the universities, have with their products — the alumni. American universities’ relationships with their alumni do not end at graduation, nor does the relationship develop in only one direction. There develops a true symbiotic relationship between institution and individual. In most cases, the fostering of this relationship is done in large part by the institution’s alumni association. This relationship will last over a lifetime if proper care and consideration of both sides of the relationship are provided.
