Region Scholarships

Through these region-based scholarships, IU alumni help support their local students.

IU Alumni Association chapters are located across the United States and around the world to serve the needs of our alums in certain geographical areas. Below are chapters that award scholarships to their local students.

Atlanta Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Deadline: changes each year
Awarded to a returning freshman, sophomore, or junior attending IU Bloomington.

Banks of the Wabash Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Varies
Deadline: March 1
At least one scholarship awarded to a Sullivan County-area high school senior attending IU in the fall. Other scholarship criteria will apply to current IU undergraduate students from the Sullivan County, Ind., area attending IU in the fall.

Benjamin L. Harrison Henry County Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Estimated amount: $1,000
Deadline: March 30
Scholarship will be given to a graduating student of New Castle (Ind.) Community Chrysler High School attending IU. The IUAA, in consultation with the Henry County
 Chapter, will determine the scholarship amount and recipient(s). Scholarship awarded based on GPA and not on financial need.

Central Carolina Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship for an entering freshman, and donations permitting, a $1,000 scholarship for a returning student.
Deadlines:  February 20 for newly accepted freshman; March 1 for returning students; awards applied in September of the upcoming academic year.
Eligibility:  Students from the chapter service area entering or returning to any IU campus in the fall Semester.  For more on application requirements and process, visit the IUAA Central Carolina Chapter website and review the scholarship application. Central Indiana Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Four $1,000 scholarships
Deadline: Jan. 29
Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students from Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, or Hendricks counties in Indiana who will be attending any IU campus in the fall.

Chicago Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who will attend IU from the Chicago area. For more information about the scholarship ,visit the IUAA Chicago Chapter website and download the application form.

Colorado Chapter of the IUAA David Butler Memorial Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship
Deadline: Feb. 15 each year
Awarded to a returning IU student from Colorado. Application and short essay are required.

Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior from certain Texas counties. Application and short essay are required.

Dearborn County Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

One $500 scholarship
Deadline: March 10
Awarded annually to graduating high school seniors planning to attend IU Bloomington from East Central High School, Lawrenceburg High School, South Dearborn High School, and Dearborn County seniors from private schools and home school. The scholarship is based on scholastic scores and honors, school activities, civic participation, attitude, and leadership.

Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

One or more $500 scholarships
Deadline: March 1
Awarded annually to graduating seniors from high schools in the Greater Cincinnati area who are planning to attend IU Bloomington. The scholarship is based on scholastic scores and honors, school activities, civic participation, attitude, and leadership.

The Greater Evansville Chapter Scholarship

Deadline: February 22, 2013
The Greater Evansville Chapter of the IUAA has established a college scholarship program to provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who reside in Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer Pike, and Gibson Counties in Indiana; and in Henderson and Davies Counties in Kentucky. Amounts given vary.

Henry County Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Deadline: March 30
Awarded to residents of Henry County, Ind., enrolled at the Henry County Danielson Center of the IU East campus in Richmond, Ind. Recipients of the scholarship must have a record of good standing. The IU East Scholarship Committee, in consultation with a representative of the Henry County Chapter, will determine the number, amount, and recipients of the scholarship.

Houston Chapter of the IUAA 
Scholarship

$500 scholarships
Presented each year to Houston-area students attending IU. All incoming and current IU students from the Houston area are invited to apply for the scholarship.

Johnson County Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Awarded to graduating Johnson County, Ind., high school seniors matriculating to any of the IU campuses.

Lakeshore Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Minimum of two $1,000 scholarships
Deadline: Feb. 1
Awarded annually 
to a full-time student of any IU-campus who hails from Lake, Porter, Jasper, or Newton counties in Indiana. Student athletes with full or partial athletic scholarships are not eligible for chapter scholarships per NCAA rules.

Los Angeles Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship
Deadline: May 15
Awarded to Los Angeles-area returning undergraduate students attending IU Bloomington (sophomores, juniors, or seniors). Selection is based upon academics, leadership, and financial need. Student athletes with full or partial athletic scholarships are not eligible for chapter scholarships per NCAA rules.

Louisville/Southern Indiana Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

New York Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student from New York attending IU.

St. Joseph County Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Amount varies and number awarded varies
Deadline: Feb. 1
The annual scholarship will be awarded to any undergraduate or graduate student from St. Joseph County in Indiana. The scholarship may be used for any IU campus. To review the requirements and application, visit the IUAA St. Joseph County Chapter website.

St. Louis Metro Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

One $500 scholarship
Deadline: TBA
The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman from the St. Louis metropolitan region attending the IU Bloomington campus in the fall. All eligible students will be invited to apply for the scholarship. Applications will be sent in the early summer.

One $500 scholarship and one $250 scholarship

Awarded to any incoming or returning IU student from San Antonio.

San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

The chapter will award scholarships to students from the South Bay area
 and students from the other areas.

Seattle Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

$500 (estimated amount) scholarship
Deadline: April 23
A scholarship will be awarded to an individual who best exemplifies personal achievement and dedication in the areas of academics and extracurricular activities. 
To be eligible for the award, the student must be an incoming college freshman of good academic standing, a resident of the state of Washington, and assured of attending any IU campus for the upcoming fall semester.

South Florida Chapter
 of the IUAA Scholarship

One $500 scholarship
Deadline: Applications accepted Nov. 1–Feb. 20. Apply Online
Recipients are chosen by March 1. The scholarship will be given to a student from the South Florida area attending IU. Scholarship applications are available on the South Florida website .

Southwest Indiana Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Awarded to continuing students at any IU campus. Selection is based on leadership, academics, and financial need. Students must have permanent residence in Daviess, Dubois, Martin, or Pike counties in Indiana.

The annual scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

Washington, D.C., Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

One $1,500 scholarship and one $1,000 scholarship
Awarded to returning IU undergraduates from the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area. Eligible students will be invited to apply for the scholarships during the spring semester.

West Central Indiana Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship

Two $1,000 scholarships
Deadline: Feb. 13
Awarded to students from the chapter’s area, based upon high school academic performance, extracurricular activities, and financial need.

Whitewater Valley Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship for IU Bloomington

Deadline: March 17
The Whitewater Valley Chapter of the IUAA also awards scholarships to full-time students attending IU Bloomington. Applicants should have demonstrated financial need and have a financial aid application on file. Preference is given to students who reside in the area served by the Whitewater Valley Chapter—Wayne, Fayette, Randolph and Union counties in Indiana. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher required.

Whitewater Valley Chapter of the IUAA Scholarship for IU East

Preference given to a relative of an IU alumnus or alumna who has demonstrated scholastic ability and financial need. The IU East Scholarship Committee, in consultation with a representative of the Whitewater Valley Chapter of the IUAA, will determine the number, amount, and recipients of the scholarship.
