Final Frame: Herman B Wells
From his home on East 10th Street, across the street from the Main Library and next door to the offices of the Wells Scholars program, Herman B Wells looked out on a campus far different from the one to which he came in 1921. Robb Hill, photo editor of the 1995 Arbutus, took this photo of a 92-year-old Wells in the university chancellors living room. On April 5, IU President Myles Brand announced that the Main Library will be renamed the Herman B Wells Library. As chair of IUs naming committee, Wells insisted on waiting five years after someones death to name a building for that person, so the official renaming is pending.
