The Woodburn Guild was established in 1981 by the Indiana University Alumni Association.
The primary purpose of the Guild is to preserve the Woodburn House as a valuable part of Indiana University history. In accordance with this purpose, the Guild's Preservation Project has an outstanding mission.
The mission of the Wells Era Preservation project is to:
- Designate the Woodburn House as the official site of the Project.
- Invite participation in the Project.
- Communicate the life and times of Herman B Wells by placement of special memorabilia in the Woodburn House.
- Preserve the property and offer as a setting for approved functions in accordance with established guidelines.
- Provide inspiration through the study of artifacts to all who visit the Woodburn House.
